Elsa holds a BA in illustration (Poly U) and a certificate in art therapy (HKU space), where she combines both in her children's art-teaching career for over 20 years. She then consolidates her profession further by completing the MA in art therapy at the University of Chester.
Her special interest is working with children. She works in a creative, fun, child-centred, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed way, responding to and supporting children as they explore the limits of their window of tolerance. Her modus operandi is to remain within the potency of metaphor and work symbolically through creative means as well as expanding into relational and more cognitive approaches where appropriate. Feedback from children states they enjoy the playfulness and mental clarity that come from the process of nonverbal art-making, where they can achieve emotional regulation.
Elsa is proficient in providing art therapy for children facing PTSD and trauma; anxieties, low self-esteem, depression, and behavioural challenges caused by ADHD or autism, therefore promoting their psychological wellbeing, social wellness, and academic performance. She is a licensed HCPC art psychotherapist and a full member of the British Association of Art Therapists.
